A modern, RCVS-accredited 24-hour small animal hospital in Richmond upon Thames is seeking an experienced Weekend Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly and collaborative clinical team. The hospital is fully equipped with advanced diagnostic and surgical facilities including CT, endoscopy, ultrasound, digital x-ray, and in-house laboratory, enabling high-quality, efficient care across a wide range of medical and surgical cases. From routine consultations and dentistry to complex orthopaedic and soft tissue procedures, this practice provides an ideal environment for professional growth and clinical variety.

Provide regular updates following procedures or patient hospitalisation
Manage concerns or complaints professionally and efficiently
Ensure clients are fully informed regarding care plans, estimates, and treatment progress
Conduct consultations, diagnostics, and surgical procedures as required
Responsible for admissions, discharges, and accurate clinical record-keeping
Ensure patient wellbeing through careful monitoring and continuity of care
Prescribe and dispense medications appropriately
Complete clinical handovers and arrange OOH or advanced care transfers if needed
Maintain full regulatory and practice standards
Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols
Support consistent implementation of best practices in clinical work
Actively contribute to clinical meetings and team discussions
Mentor and support colleagues and newer vets as needed
Share knowledge and promote a progressive clinical culture
Champion the role of nurse consults and cross-team collaboration
Prepare clear and accurate treatment plans and cost estimates
Ensure timely payment and contribute to managing client debt
Support the efficient use of clinical resources to maximise case capacity
RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon
35+ years' experience in small animal general practice (UK preferred)
Confident in consultations, general surgery, and routine diagnostics
Interest or experience in medicine or ultrasonography is desirable but not essential
Strong team player with excellent communication and client care skills
Demonstrates clinical leadership and a commitment to continuous improvement
Understands the value of nurse-led care and the wider support team
Work within a state-of-the-art, 24-hour hospital environment
