Job summary

Birds Bakery in Clay Cross, Derbyshire (S45 9AG) is seeking a part-time Bakery Sales Assistant. The role involves working 8 hours per week with weekend shifts; pay starts from £12.71 per hour for older staff and scales by age. You will greet customers, suggest bakery items, handle till payments and keep the shop tidy and welcoming.

Training is provided; prior food retail experience is preferred. Flexible with Saturdays and Sundays, opportunities for progression and a positive team environment

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Greet and serve customers in a friendly and helpful manner.
• Recommend bakery items such as bread, cakes and pastries.
• Take customer orders and package products properly.
• Operate the till/cash register and handle payments.
• Restock shelves and displays to keep products available and attractive.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the shop and display areas.
• Answer customer questions about ingredients, prices, or products.
• Upsell products such as hot drinks with food or confectionery items.
• Prepare and serve a range of hot and cold bakery and food-to-go items.

Purpose

The purpose of a bakery sales assistant is to servecustomers, sell bakery products and help keep the shop clean and organised, aswell as a friendly and welcoming environment. Making sure customer service andquality is at the forefront of everything we do.

Responsibilities

• Greetand serve customers in a friendly and helpful manner.
• Recommendbakery items such as bread, cakes, and pastries.
• Takecustomer orders and package products properly.
• Operatethe till/cash register and handle payments.
• Restockshelves and displays to keep products available and attractive.
• Maintaincleanliness and hygiene in the shop and display areas.
• Answercustomer questions about ingredients, prices, or products.
• Upsellproducts to customers for example offering hot drinks with food, or a nicelittle treat in upselling confectionaries goods.
• Prepareand serve a range of hot and cold bakery and food-to-go / eat in products.

Shifts

You will need to be available to work on Saturdays and Sundays as shifts will vary (flexibility during the week would be a bonus!)

Experience

• Previousexperience in food retail is preferred and we will giveyou all the training you need to be successful.
• Strongcommunication and customer service skills.
• Apositive attitude and the ability to stay resilient in a busy environment.
• Experiencehandling cash or working with tills / Card machines (training will beprovided).
• Flexibilityto work shifts between Monday and Sunday.

• 4weeks annual leave (Pro rata), increasing incrementally to 5 weeks after 5years of continuous service, plus bank holidays

Pay Rates:

• Age 19+: £12.71 per hour
• Age 18: £10.85 per hour
• Age 17: £8.50 per hour
