Job summary

Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support its fast-paced research labs. You will help maintain cleanliness, manage consumables, and assist with equipment setup and basic troubleshooting in a collaborative environment.

The role requires a BSc in a related field, attention to detail, and strong organizational and communication skills. Office/site based work with occasional extended hours may be needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in laboratory maintenance and familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain accurate records.
• Good communication and the ability to work effectively within a team.
• Ability to manage time and handle multiple tasks.
• Basic understanding of laboratory safety practices and handling of biological materials.
• Able to lift and move supplies and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization under supervision.
• Assist with equipment setup and basic troubleshooting.
• Log, store, calibrate and maintain equipment; assist with servicing.
• Coordinate with external stakeholders for maintenance visits.
• Disinfect and sterilize tools and areas per protocols.
• Ensure waste handling and safety standards are followed.
• Manage reagents, consumables and supplies inventory.
• Record inventory levels and assist with stock replenishment.
• Assist transport and labeling of biological samples.
• Deliver consumables or samples to researchers.
• Monitor lab conditions including temperature-sensitive storage.
• Ensure PPE and safety equipment is maintained.
