Job summary

Sodexo in Blackburn is seeking a Weekend Cook to prepare nutritious, high-quality meals for residents and staff. You will take ownership of the kitchen, work Saturdays and Sundays, and ensure meals are prepared and served on time.

We are looking for someone with previous professional cooking or catering experience, solid knowledge of food safety and hygiene, and the ability to work independently. You’ll contribute to a safe, welcoming environment and enjoy a regular weekend pattern with

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a professional cooking or catering role is essential.
• Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen procedures.
• The ability to work independently, manage your time and prioritise tasks.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Reliable, self-motivated and confident working alone.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook nutritious, high-quality meals for residents and staff.
• Take responsibility for the kitchen and make sure meals are prepared and served on time.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness across the kitchen and dining areas.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and health and safety procedures at all times.
• Check stock levels and order or replenish ingredients and supplies when required.
• Work closely with colleagues and communicate clearly to ensure the service runs smoothly.
• Work confidently and safely when working independently.
