Job summary

Sodexo is inviting applications for a weekend Cook in Blackburn to prepare fresh, nutritious meals for residents and staff. This part-time role provides consistent weekend hours (Saturday and Sunday) with early morning shifts, in a busy kitchen environment.

You will own the kitchen, work independently, maintain high cleanliness standards and ensure meals are served on time while upholding food safety and health & safety rules. A passion for cooking and delivering quality meals is essential.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a professional cooking or catering role is essential.
  • Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen procedures.
  • The ability to work independently, manage your time and prioritise tasks.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Reliable, self-motivated and confident working alone.
  • A positive and flexible approach, with the ability to work well with others and follow procedures.
  • A genuine passion for cooking and providing good-quality meals.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook nutritious, high-quality meals for residents and staff.
  • Take responsibility for the kitchen and make sure meals are prepared and served on time.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness across the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Follow food safety, hygiene and health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Check stock levels and order or replenish ingredients and supplies when required.
  • Work closely with colleagues and communicate clearly to ensure the service runs smoothly.
  • Work confidently and safely when working independently.
