Test Manager (WebTis)
Hybrid - The Point - London & Remote
£40k - £60k
FTC until 20th November

About the job

The project will migrate from the existing rail retail system (WebTIS) to a new supplier for South Western Railway, Great Western Railway, Hull Trains and Lumo. This will include the integration of the new supplier APIs into the existing train operating companies (TOCs) ecommerce websites and customer apps. The project will need to review existing functionality vs new supplier functionality for the APIs, undertake gap analysis, plan programme of work for the integration of the new APIs, manage the test programme, data migration and go-live of the services.

This will be a short-term role to deliver the WebTIS project within tight deadlines. The Test Manager will report into the Head of Retail and manage a complex stakeholder environment, working closely with First Rail product managers, project manager, new WebTIS supplier and web/app development teams.

The Test Manager will be responsible for defining and maintaining the testing strategy, standards, procedures, test scripts and schedules for all testing cycles for the WebTIS migration.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • The business lead for the testing strategy working with stakeholders to deliver the WebTIS migration
  • Planning test schedule to ensure release cycles are delivered on time
  • Managing the test execution and scope
  • Writing and improving the test scripts
  • Driving improvements to the existing processes
  • Overall responsibility for testing resource planning and delivery across stakeholders
  • Manage and enhance the automated testing strategy with third party supplier
  • Own and manage the relationship with third party suppliers who support the testing function
  • Writing test reports to highlight anything which could impact releases. Recommendations will be required on whether a release is put live or not.
  • Help to analyse bugs and issues which will impact the customer
  • To support the Group's Vision, strategy, and Values

  • To establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues throughout the Group

You'll need to be:

  • Defining and implementing test strategy
  • System testing standards and procedures
  • Writing and amending test scripts
  • Strong understanding of multiple delivery methodologies including waterfall, KANBAN, TDD
  • Understanding of the latest developments and approaches to testing & QA including DevOps, CI/CD/CT, cloud technology and virtualisation services
  • Test planning and delivery
  • High level of IT literacy essential
  • Strong decision-making skills – ability to balance conflicting interests
  • Robust problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral
  • Ability to work under pressure and be agile to last minute changes to product releases
  • Good judgement and confident decision maker
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interpret and present complex technical information to non-technical audience

About the location

Location: Hybrid – Home based and The Point, Paddington, London
Potentially some travel and working away from home as required and within reason and in agreement with line manager
