Website Manager

Department: Internal Technology

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Oxford, UK

Description

Aurora is seeking a Website Manager to join our Information Technology Team. This role will take ownership of Aurora's external corporate website, acting as the primary business owner and ensuring its ongoing performance, security, usability, and alignment with organisational objectives.

The Website Manager will be responsible for the strategic ownership, governance, and continuous improvement of the website. Acting as the key interface between internal stakeholders and the external website development and hosting partner, the role ensures that the platform remains secure, compliant, user-focused, and effective in supporting business outcomes.

As part of a newly established systems management function within the Information Technology Team, you will collaborate with engineers and other Systems Managers to support a structured and robust change management process across the application and systems landscape. You will proactively identify opportunities for improvement, including system configuration changes, automation, integration, and potential platform enhancements.

A core part of the role will involve gathering, refining, and prioritising business requirements from across the organisation, translating non-technical needs into clear deliverables, and managing the website roadmap. You will work closely with stakeholders across Marketing, Communications, IT, Security, Legal, and other functions to ensure alignment with organisational priorities, while maintaining high standards across usability, accessibility, performance, and security.

You will be expected to distil requirements, define clear objectives, and contribute to the development of system and platform roadmaps that align with broader IT and digital strategy.

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact within a growing SME environment where change, innovation, and continuous improvement are key priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the corporate website strategy, roadmap, and backlog.
  • Act as the business owner for all website-related initiatives and enhancements.
  • Ensure website content, functionality, and user experience align with organisational objectives and brand standards.
  • Establish and maintain website governance processes, standards, and policies.
  • Monitor website performance and identify opportunities for optimisation and improvement.
Stakeholder Management and Requirements Gathering
  • Work closely with Marketing, Communications, IT, Digital, Legal, Compliance, and other business teams to build strong relationships across the organisation to ensure website initiatives are successfully delivered.
  • Partner with stakeholders across multiple departments to understand requirements and priorities.
  • Translate business requirements into clear functional specifications and user stories.
  • Challenge and refine requirements to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Balance competing stakeholder demands and manage prioritisation through an agreed governance framework.
  • Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Promote best practices in digital governance and website management.
Vendor Management
  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for the external website provider.
  • Manage supplier performance against agreed service levels, contractual obligations, and project deliverables.
  • Coordinate website development activities, enhancements, releases, and issue resolution.

  • Escalate and manage service issues, risks, and performance concerns where necessary.
  • Drive continuous improvement and value from the supplier relationship.

  • Coordinate website updates, projects, enhancements, and releases.
  • Ensure changes are appropriately assessed, tested, documented, and communicated.
  • Work with stakeholders to define success criteria and measure outcomes.
  • Manage website-related projects from initiation through delivery and post-implementation review.
Security, Risk & Compliance
  • Ensure website operations comply with organisational security policies and standards.
  • Work closely with IT and Information Security teams to assess and mitigate website-related risks.
  • Understand website architecture, integrations, authentication methods, and data flows sufficiently to make informed decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including GDPR/PECR, accessibility requirements, cookie management, and privacy obligations.
  • Coordinate vulnerability remediation activities with the external supplier and internal teams.
Performance, Analytics & Optimisation
  • Monitor website performance, availability, and user engagement metrics.
