Web/Network Infrastructure Engineer - F5, Low Latency sought by leading investment bank based in Canary Wharf.

**Inside IR35 - 3 days a week on site**

Role Overview

This position sits within the Enterprise Computing team, which is responsible for the delivery infrastructure that supports thousands of applications used by both internal and external clients. The role focuses on evaluating, deploying, and maintaining hardware, virtual, and software load-balancer solutions-critical for scalable and high-performance systems, particularly in trading environments and cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with architects, developers, and operations to deliver well-documented and reliable load-balancer environments.
  • Design automation tools integrated with in-house configuration management systems, primarily built using Python and Perl.
  • Provide consultancy and support to internal technical teams, aligning infrastructure solutions with business goals.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues in high-pressure enterprise settings.
  • Propose improvements for performance and stability at both code and configuration levels.

Essential Skills

  • Strong foundation in Linux/Unix system administration and networking protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP, and SSL.
  • Scripting and automation experience using Python, Perl, and shell, alongside tools like Ansible or Terraform.
  • Proficient with Linux command-line tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with stakeholders and technical teams.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with F5 or A10 load-balancer platforms, including their configuration and APIs (e.g., iControl, iRules, axAPI, aflex).
  • Understanding of distributed web infrastructure and its components.
  • Familiarity with virtualization and containerization technologies.
  • Experience with source control, build tools, and software development lifecycle practices.
  • Knowledge of automated testing infrastructures, particularly using Python or frameworks like Robot.
