University Of Hertfordshire is seeking a Web Developer to support the technical development of our external website. You will work as part of Marketing and Communications (Digital and Creative Experience) to deliver a sector-leading digital experience.
The role requires designing and evolving DXPs or large CMS environments, with front-end skills in HTML/XHTML, JSON, CSS and JavaScript, plus a strong grasp of performance and security practices for high-traffic sites.

This is your opportunity to be at the heart of the digital transformation of a major UK university. We're looking for a Web Developer to support the technical development of our external website, working as part of a team to deliver our audiences a sector-leading digital experience.
Support the evolution of the University's website, contributing to local architecture, performance and continuous improvement of our primary and supporting marketing platforms. This role blends technical expertise with creative problem-solving to turn complex stakeholder needs into seamless, secure, high-performing user experiences, while championing best practice and driving innovation across a 24/7 digital environment.
Candidates should demonstrate experience designing, optimising and evolving enterprise-level digital experience platforms (DXPs) or large-scale CMS environments, ideally in a complex organisational setting. You should have demonstrable experience hands‑on expertise with modern front‑end technologies (HTML/XHTML, JSON, CSS and JavaScript frameworks) and integrating these into scalable, maintainable architectures, as well as Solid understanding of performance optimisation, security best practice and governance within high‑traffic, always‑on digital platforms.
Candidates should hold a minimum of a degree, or equivalent qualification, or proven professional experience in a relevant field.
