The Role

Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council is embarking on a 2-year Customer Experience Programme (CEP) which aims to transform how customers interact with Tameside Council. The programme will enable consistently good customer experience across all customer contact channels. The Programme Team will work closely with business areas to achieve this, making better use of customer insights to improve effectiveness and reduce avoidable contacts and demand. Where possible, the team will utilise co-production, engaging users in the look, feel and processes when designing resident facing services.

Tameside Council is committed to delivering high-quality digital services to our residents. We are looking for a talented, creative and experienced Web Developer to join our development team and help enhance our online presence and service delivery.

This is a highly varied role giving the successful candidate the opportunity to work across multiple projects and at all stages of the software development lifecycle. Whilst focused on software development, this role also provides the opportunity to participate in software design at all levels.

About You

As a Web Developer, you will assist the Senior Web Developer and Development Team Manager to ensure the Councils digital ambitions and priorities are delivered.

You will be involved in a range of tasks including:

  • Working closely with customers to fully understand their business requirements
  • Design and development of software to meet customer expectations
  • Implementing, documenting, reviewing and maintenance of systems/software
  • Undertaking testing of developed software and overseeing user testing

Applicants should have the following qualities:

  • Experience working within a web development or similar role
  • Strong proficiency in asp.net, MSSQL, HTML/HTLM5
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform is desirable (but not essential as training will be provided)
  • Our IT teams work in a hybrid manner involving home working and time in our offices which are based in Ashton-under-Lyne.
