We are looking for a talented and forward-thinking Web Content Design Officers to join the Digital Innovation Team at Westmorland and Furness Council. This is a key role in shaping how our customers interact with the Council online and supports our ambition to increase self-service and digital access to services.

You’ll be responsible for developing and improving our websites to ensure they are user-friendly, accessible and aligned with national content standards. Working across the organisation, you’ll influence service leads, shape content, and ensure the overall digital experience meets the needs of our communities.

Using customer insight, user research and performance data, you’ll identify areas for improvement and drive continuous development. You’ll also lead on accessibility compliance and provide training and support to teams to ensure consistent, high-quality digital content.

Who we are looking for…

We’re looking for someone with strong web development experience, ideally educated to NVQ Level 4 or equivalent. You’ll have excellent writing and editing skills for online audiences, alongside a good understanding of accessibility standards, web content best practice, and digital user experience.

You’ll need experience managing or commissioning digital platforms, with the ability to influence and advise colleagues at all levels. Strong project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to juggle competing priorities are essential.
