Job summary

Thales in Belfast is seeking a Systems Architect for Weapon Systems (IAS) to shape architectures, technology roadmaps, and strategic investments across major programmes. You will lead technical discussions with customers and partners, transform concepts into operational capabilities, and ensure delivery of high-value solutions in a demanding defence environment.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline.
• Experience in senior engineering, systems architecture, or product development in a complex tech environment.
• Proven ability to architect, develop and manage complex systems end-to-end.
• Experience developing and delivering technical roadmaps aligned with business goals.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Demonstrable leadership capability to guide cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve Weapon System architectures, including concepts of operation, functional partitioning, interfaces, and system-level design to meet requirements.
• Develop innovative technical solutions and proposals for complex Weapon Systems within bid/programme constraints.
• Provide technical leadership and governance across the development lifecycle, ensuring compliance with requirements, standards, and product policies.
• Act as the principal technical interface for customers, partners, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain and apply domain expertise in Weapon Systems and related disciplines, identifying opportunities to enhance capability.
• Support Design Authority activities and communicate solutions using system architecture tools.
