Job summary

MBDA is offering a Summer Placement for an Algorithms Engineer in the Weapon System Algorithms & Performance team. The 10-week role starts in June 2027 and combines university learning with real-world MBDA projects, with on-site work 2–3 days per week due to workload classification.

Applicants should be undergraduates in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or Computer Science, with a strong interest in mathematics and coding (MATLAB, Python).

Qualifications

• Current undergraduate studying Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or Computer Science.
• Strong interest in mathematics and applying mathematical techniques to engineering problems.
• Experience programming for scientific/engineering applications (e.g. MATLAB, Python) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimise algorithms for weapon systems at system level.
• Work with MBDA project teams to deliver critical algorithm components on time and to cost and quality targets.
• Contribute to the Weapon System Algorithms & Performance team's objectives using modern techniques.
