Job summary

The Fix Creative Ltd. is seeking an experienced wayfinding designer to lead sign family concepts, graphic systems and location plans for varied environments.

You will translate user journeys into legible signage and maps, collaborating with architects, fabricators and clients to ensure buildable, accessible solutions. You will manage multiple projects from brief to completion while working in a hybrid setup (studio Tue-Thu; Mon/Wed optional from home).

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience within wayfinding, environmental graphic design or a closely related discipline.
• Strong portfolio showing projects from concept through to implementation.
• Excellent graphic design skills, particularly typography, layout, information hierarchy and visual communication.
• Experience designing signage, wayfinding systems, iconography, mapping and/or environmental graphics.
• Confidence reading architectural plans and working with spatial information.
• Understanding of materials, scale, fabrication and the built environment.
• Knowledge of inclusive and accessible design.
• Strong Adobe Creative Suite skills (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
• Excellent client presentation and communication skills.
• Experience with CAD/SketchUp or other 3D/spatial design software is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing prototypes and samples.
• Visiting sites during production and installation to ensure the original design intent is maintained.
• Managing multiple projects from brief through to completion, Hybrid working with Tuesday-Thursday studio based, with Monday and Friday optional from home.

Job description

You'll work closely with creative, production and project management teams, as well as architects, clients, consultants and fabrication partners. Projects can include directional and destination signage, navigation systems, directories, environmental graphics, maps, level identifiers and glazing manifestations.,

• Developing wayfinding strategies, concepts, sign families and graphic systems
• Understanding user journeys, circulation and key decision points within spaces
• Creating location plans, messaging schedules, typography, iconography and maps
• Producing detailed design packages and final artwork
• Presenting concepts and design rationale to clients and stakeholders
• Working with architects, manufacturers and fabricators
