We currently offer a fantastic opportunity for a Water Treatment Technician (Day Work) to join our team based in Okehampton. This is a full-time, permanent position, with a starting salary of £25,756 per annum and a flexibility payment of £833 per annum. We support your development through a Water Treatment Technician levels 1 to 5 progression scheme, which can increase your salary up to £33,102 per annum, plus overtime, benefits, and rewards. The company will fully fund training costs of up to £7,280 for industry-recognized qualifications, including a Level 3 Water Treatment Operations Diploma.

About the role:

As our Water Treatment Technician (Day Work), you will ensure the effective operation of our water treatment site, plant, and equipment daily. The ideal candidate is hands-on, a team player, and committed to providing high-quality water by maintaining standards for water quality and quantity. The role may require occasional out-of-hours standby to cover leave or sickness, ensuring continuous site operation. The position is mainly day shifts, 37 hours per week, with potential for different hours with notice. A company vehicle will be provided for travel within the operational area during working hours.

What you’ll be doing:

  1. Maintaining potable water quality and quantity within standards, considering licences and distribution system requirements.
  2. Storing, handling, and using chemicals safely and efficiently, following procedures.
  3. Performing operational maintenance on equipment and instrumentation as scheduled.
  4. Sampling water and conducting on-site analysis as instructed.
  5. Completing water quality and operational records/log sheets.
  6. Carrying out routine and ad hoc tasks to meet operational needs.
  7. Maintaining a clean and tidy work environment.
  8. Reporting abnormal events according to procedures to the relevant manager.

What we are looking for:

Essential:

  • Good skills in Maths, English, and IT.
  • Understanding of COSHH, Lone Working, and Basic First Aid principles.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across all levels.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills under pressure.
  • A Full UK Driver’s Licence.

Desirable:

  • NVQ 2 in Operating Process Plant or HNC in Water Operations, or working towards it.
  • Mechanical, electrical, ICA, or scientific background.
  • Experience in Water Treatment or similar processes.
