Job summary

M Group is seeking a Water Network Operative to join the Thames Water Lot 3 team in London. Based from the Hackney depot, you will perform valve operations, water quality sampling, and support pressure management across London and Thames Valley networks, ensuring minimal disruption to water supplies.

The role requires a valid UK driving license and will involve visiting multiple sites within the Thames Water catchment area on a night shift schedule (Sun-Thu).

Qualifications

• Experience in Technician/Operative/Break-fix roles.
• Proven experience with valve operations and water quality sampling.
• Full UK driving license (or UK driving licence).

Responsibilities

• Carry out network valve activities with minimal disruption to water supplies.
• Support pressure management maintenance and installation of meters at new sites.
• Respond to planned and urgent client requests and support network upgrade schemes.
• Night shift: Sunday–Thursday, 9 hours per shift (45 hours/week).

We are looking for a Service Technician for our client based in North East London.

This role will be within our water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.

You’ll be joining our Network Operations Team as a Water Network Operative, working across both London and the Thames Valley on our Thames Water Lot 3 contract. Well need you to provide excellent customer service by carrying out operational tasks, resolving customer issues, and completing network valve activities with minimal disruption to water supplies.

ou’ll be supporting teams with Pressure Management Maintenance responsibilities, and assisting with the installation of assets for new pressure‑managed sites along with installing Zonal Meters and District Meters. You will also carry out exchanges (water Valves and Hydrant systems), while also supporting water network upgrade schemes as they arise.

You’ll be completing high‑consequence Valve checks on Trunk Mains and other high‑impact water network valves to help maintain network resilience and carrying out Water Quality Sampling activities.

We'll need you to respond to planned requests from the Client colleagues whenever possible, providing support during urgent or unplanned situations as they occur.

For this role, your base location will be from the Hackney depot (N4 2HA), however, during your shifts, you'll be required to to attend various locations within the Thames Water catchment area, which includes London and Central London, Inner / Outer M25, and other areas within the Thames Valley region (which encompasses Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire). Full UK driving license is required.

You’ll be supporting teams with pressure management maintenance and assisting with the installation of assets for new pressure managed sites along with installing zonal meters and district meters, including carrying out exchanges, while also supporting network upgrade schemes as they arise.

You’ll be completing high consequence valve checks on trunk mains and other high impact network valves to help maintain network resilience.

Well need you to respond to reactive requests from network colleagues whenever possible, providing support during urgent or unplanned situations as they occur.

For this role your base location will be our Hackney depot, however during your shift youll be required to to attend various sites within our Thames Water network.

This is a night shift role where youd be working Sunday - Thursday, 9 hour shifts, 45 hours per week.
