Job summary

White Trading Limited is seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join our utility and infrastructure services team in the UK. The role focuses on developing and delivering high-quality design solutions for clean water and wastewater projects, collaborating with project managers, operations, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure robust, regulation-compliant designs.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification (HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent).
• Experience producing clean water and wastewater network designs.
• Mentoring or supporting junior engineers and designers.

Responsibilities

• Review project scopes, modelling information, and supporting documentation.
• Produce and maintain Health & Safety files throughout all project stages, ensuring CDM 2015 compliance.
• Manage technical queries and design submissions through project management systems.
• Maintain drawing registers and associated project documentation.
• Coordinate pre-design meetings and design sign-off meetings with stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal design teams, client representatives, and external consultants to deliver project objectives.
• Produce private land drawings, including land referencing and statutory notice plans.
• Prepare site investigation drawings, including trial hole, coupon cut, and sample cut information.
• Develop overview drawings using site investigation data.
• Produce detailed design and as-laid drawings using AutoCAD.
• Identify and communicate significant design risks, hazards, or scope changes to project teams.
• Facilitate internal design review meetings with project and operational stakeholders.
• Support and mentor junior team members while assisting with workload coordination.
• Review and complete redline mark-ups of as-laid drawings.
• Request and review statutory utility plans and records.
• Produce weekly design reports and present project updates to management.
