Barhale Ltd in Manchester seeks a Discipline Head/Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the multidisciplinary design team on water sector projects. You will deliver high-quality engineering solutions, guide design teams and ensure technical delivery standards.

The role requires Chartered Engineer status, extensive water-industry design experience, and the ability to mentor engineers while enforcing safety and governance across projects.

Qualifications

• Extensive design experience within the regulated water industry.
• Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status.
• Experience producing hydraulic calculations and hydraulic profiles.
• Strong IT and digital design capability.

Responsabilités

• Design Delivery & Technical Assurance: Ensuring design deliverables meet safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
• Discipline Leadership & Technical Governance: Setting, communicating and maintaining Mechanical engineering technical standards across all live projects.
• Mentor engineers and graduates; guide design work to ensure compliance with standards.
• Coordinate with Design Leads on cross-discipline interfaces and ensure proper documentation.
