Overview

Blue Arrow are recruiting for Water Sampling Technicians. Our client is a global manufacturing company who are A leader in their industry, based in Swansea.

Hours, Location and Travel

Hours of work: Monday to Friday 7.30am-4pm / 40 hours a week. Working On & Offsite. This role requires flexibility to work away from office base with a 2-hour radius of Swansea East and West. Occasional overnight stays when work is necessary. Company vehicle will be provided, picked up from base and dropped off in the evenings.

Salary and Contract

Salary: 29,000 p.a

Contract: Permanent

Summary

To collect and deliver water samples from a range of locations (industrial, commercial, and/or natural water sources) in accordance with relevant water quality guidelines and company procedures, ensuring samples are taken, stored, and transported under strict quality and safety standards.

Main Responsibilities
  • Collection of water samples from designated site taps
  • Delivery of samples to specified laboratories for testing
  • Compliance with relevant procedures and standards for sample collection
  • Travel to customer sites to complete site surveys as part of sales engineering works. Action and complete scope of work and ensure that project is completed to deadline.
  • Review and implement internal documentation control associated to HSD/FMP processes
Essential Skills
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to follow strict sampling protocols and accurately label/record data.
  • Time Management: Efficiently plan routes and meet sampling schedules within required timeframes.
  • Health & Safety Awareness: Understanding of safe working practices, including lone working and use of PPE.
  • Manual Handling & Practical Skills: Comfortable handling sampling equipment, cool boxes, and sample containers.
  • Driving & Navigation: Confident driving to multiple field locations across varying terrain; full, clean UK driving licence required.
  • Basic Technical Competence: Ability to use handheld instruments (e.g., pH meter, thermometer, turbidity meter) and ensure correct calibration.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and respond to unexpected field conditions (e.g., site access issues, contamination risks).
  • Record-Keeping & Documentation: Maintain accurate logs, chain-of-custody forms, and digital records.
  • Communication: Clear verbal and written reporting to supervisors and laboratory staff.
  • Independence & Reliability: Self-motivated to work alone, meet deadlines, and uphold standards without constant supervision
Desirable/Additional Skills
  • Knowledge of Sampling Guidelines: Familiarity with UK water sampling standards (e.g., BS EN ISO 5667).
  • Basic Data Entry & IT: Use of tablets or mobile apps for field data capture.
  • Customer/Client Interaction: Professional conduct when visiting client premises or liaising with site contacts.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust schedules due to weather, traffic, or urgent sampling requests.
  • First Aid Awareness: Basic first aid or lone-worker safety training
Essential Requirements
  • Full UK Driving Licence - Essential
  • Minimum age 25 - for insurance coverage on company vehicle
  • DBS Check - All candidates must successfully complete a DBS check due to site requirements. A clear DBS is a mandatory requirement for this role.
