Job summary

Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Water Safety Manager to ensure all hospital water systems comply with current health and safety and water safety legislation. You will oversee the in‑house team and sub‑contractors to deliver testing, maintenance and remedial works.

Responsibilities

• Implement a Safe System of Work for water safety compliance across RBHFT estates portfolio.
• Review and maintain Trust Water Safety Policy and Guidance Notes to comply with latest legislation, industry guidance, sustainability and operational requirements.
• Write/review water safety risk assessments and implement the action plan.
• Establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for operatives, managers, contractors and users to work to.
• Develop a water safety reporting pack and issue bi-weekly to the WSG on key elements of water safety operational activates, sampling results and compliance.
• Issue 1/4ly strategic reports, analysing trends in sampling and water safety results in order to advice the WSG on strategic improvement to improve safety and compliance.
• Produce a RAG rated H&S reporting pack for inclusion in H&S and Estates Compliance reporting.
• Manage DATIX and Risk Register actions relating to Water Safety.
• Manage action trackers, chairing weekly meeting with service providers, to ensure progress and compliance.
• Work with the Estates Engineering Manager, hard FM contractors and Trust capital work team to implement remedial and capital investment works in accordance with Trust SFI policies.
• Investigate serious incidents and breaches in compliance relating to water safety, working alongside patient safety and risk management teams to analyse root cause analysis and implement recommendations.
