Location: Bradford, BD6 / Hybrid Working (one to two office days a week – Bradford and must be willing to travel to our sites across Yorkshire).

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

Within our team you will help us to deliver world class asset and operational excellence in pursuit of health and safety excellence; regulatory compliance; operational integrity and resilience; operational efficiency and business plan out performance.

Lead Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives to realise benefits using CI methodology to design, communicate and embed sustainable process improvements across the wider business.

Develop a framework of potable Water Quality Continuous Improvement (WQ CI) across the wider business to generate improvement opportunities and lead delivery of sustainable improvement initiatives ensuring gains to efficiency and effectiveness of processes.

Where you fit in!

As our potable Water Quality Continuous Improvement Technical Lead you will:

  • Verify and investigate asset shortfalls through the Company business risk process, ensuring the challenge process is followed and appropriate issues are promoted to solution phase.
  • Recommend engineering solutions to asset problems where appropriate and lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for potable WQ failures and near misses.
  • Provide cover for the WQ CI manager when appropriate.
  • Provide technical expertise to the wider teams for processes and procedures as a result of RAC investigations.
  • Aid resolution of high priority, complex and emergency problems, using external resources where necessary.
  • Provide operational knowledge and leadership into Company Strategies as an output of RCA investigations.
  • Provide recommendations for resolution. Be key contact for the wider business on compliance shortfalls.
  • Ensure potable WQ risks (present and emerging) are managed on production and distribution sites. Work with the external bodies including the Regulators to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure the potable WQ risk processes relating to asset operation are shared and understood, managed to prevent regulatory and Company compliance failures and to aid in the demonstration of risk management processes to the Regulators.

What skills & qualifications you will need:

  • Knowledge and experience of potable Water Quality, including the relevant Regulations.
  • Develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships.
  • Experience of supporting and embedding change, able to influence and drive the right culture and behaviours.
  • Clearly demonstrates the Yorkshire Water company values and behaviours.
  • Analytical and fault diagnosis of processes.
  • Experience in incident report writing for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience of delivering and embedding sustainable change, able to influence and drive the right culture and behaviours.
  • Engineering/Scientific degree.
  • Driving licence required for this role.

You will also benefit from having:

  • Experience of driving sustainable performance against challenging business targets.
  • Previous experience in a regulated environment or experience gained within the water or wastewater sectors or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors.
  • Understanding of WTW production and distribution processes.
  • Knowledge and previous experience / ability to apply continuous improvement methodology, such as Lean; Six Sigma; Systems Thinking, to deliver process improvements
  • Proficient knowledge of corporate systems.
  • Knowledge of YW risk policy and process.
  • Project Management.
