Job description

The Opportunity

Have you ever thought about joining a multidisciplinary team where you get to work in a diverse, welcoming, and fun environment on amazing projects whilst starting or continuing your journey to becoming professionally qualified? Then look no further than Stantec. We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant / Senior Water Quality Consultant to join us at any of our UK offices.

Stantec is working in partnership with water companies across the UK and Ireland and with a broader stakeholder community to develop effective and sustainable drinking water and wastewater solutions driven by the environmental needs of our inland waters and coast. The challenges are substantial with increased public awareness and tightening water quality standards and we consider a wide range of systems and environmental processes following a more integrated approach. Meeting this challenge requires multidisciplinary teams working across the water cycle to meet industry-wide efficiency and environmental challenges.

Key to our growth is the continuous development of our expertise in understanding the context of water quality within environmental systems. Through integration with other knowledge in urban and natural catchments, we work closely with various stakeholders to help clients and communities develop sustainable solutions that deliver environmental performance and wider benefits. This is an excellent opportunity for a numerate and imaginative consultant with experience in water quality modelling to join an ambitious expert team in a role that will provide plenty of scope for technical development and career progression in the coming years.

You will work within a core of scientific and engineering experts, predominantly in the water sector but also in the energy and infrastructure sectors. Together, we will identify pollution sources, pathways, and receptors and develop solutions for natural and urban catchments that deliver wider environmental, social, and economic benefits.

This position offers the right person a genuine opportunity to improve the environment. We seek driven individuals who think differently and love to challenge conventional thinking.

About You
You will be degree qualified in science, mathematics, or engineering, with experience in the water industry. Ideally, you will be working towards or have achieved chartered membership of a relevant professional institution.

You will have some experience in the usage of water quality modelling software (e.g. MIKE, Delft3D, SAGIS-SIMCAT) with demonstrable application in inland and / or coastal systems. This could be in the form of the modelling of physico-chemical, biological, bacterial, or chemical parameters.

A background or understanding of the regulated water industry and/or catchment and nature-based solutions is advantageous. You will also have the necessary skills and experience to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders, working closely with clients and other technical staff across multidisciplinary business groups.

We are proud of our culture. We have an open, friendly, and professional environment where ideas are shared and opportunities are seized. We know our continuing success and development depend on yours, so we go all the way when it comes to giving you the support you need to be the very best. If you want to work on exciting and diverse projects that make a difference, then a career at Stantec could be the one for you!

We offer a competitive salary, agile and flexible working arrangements, industry-leading training, great projects, and lots more!
