Job Purpose

To oversee and manage a team of water quality analysts (WQA). WQA are responsible for handling customer enquiries with regards to water quality and for arranging the initial response to all water quality infringements.

To monitor and manage resources, processes and procedures to attain maximum efficiency while working with the public health team to ensure appropriate water quality information is provided to customers in a timely manner and to ensure any issues and improvements are both resolved and implemented. The role holder would also provide support to the public health team including, following appropriate training, being a member of the on call rota.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage a team of Water Quality Analysts (WQA), ensuring prompt responses to customer enquiries and water quality infringements, while maintaining high performance and adherence to company procedures through coaching and technical training.
• Handle escalated calls and complaints related to water quality, including providing written responses to complex enquiries. Represent the WQ&PH team during incidents and participate in the out-of-hours rota for public health matters.
• Perform risk assessments concerning water quality issues, assess the need for public health advice, and act as a point of escalation for significant water quality infringements.
• Work with stakeholders such as UKHSA and Local Authorities to assess health risks, provide suitable advice, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Identify opportunities for improving communication on water quality matters and enhance ways of working in Water and Scientific Services, while taking ownership of relevant performance commitments.
