Job Purpose

The Water Quality Analyst team manage a wide range of complex water quality issues through to completion. Your role will include providing customers with information in a timely manner to improve the customer experience and co-ordinating the response to water quality issues identified through customer complaints, random and routine sampling.

The WQA team are responsible for receiving all water quality results and exceedances from the laboratory and conducting preliminary investigations. The purpose of the role is to triage results and apply appropriate prioritisation, instigating the wider business response in a timely manner.

The team are vital in ensuring that water quality standards are maintained, public health is protected and the Company continues to meet its regulatory obligations at all times.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Accurately diagnose complex customer issues through detailed questioning and active listening
  • Resolve breaches of the Water Quality Standards in line with Company procedures to ensure the correct business response is completed
  • Manage customer expectations, set and agree timescales for follow on action, and deliver to those timescales
  • Investigate and interpret data held on a number of different systems to enable accurate diagnoses of an issue and manage through to resolution
  • Develop and maintain expert detailed knowledge of end to end water procedures and processes liaise with other business areas and senior levels of staff, supporting and/or challenging as appropriate to provide customer resolution
  • Monitor mailboxes, ensuring agreed resolution times are adhered to
  • Provide subject matter expertise where needed
  • Interpretation of analytical sample results
  • The workload will be managed between the analysts, but this role does not have any direct staff supervision or direct budget

Technical Skills & Experience

  • A good understanding of company systems including SAP, INS, OMS, and Aquavista
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office programs including, Word, Excel and Sharepoint
  • A good broad based awareness of water quality, covering treatment process, distribution network, customer and regulatory understanding
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working in a customer orientated environment and able to build rapport
  • Ability to organise work, follow processes and prioritise appropriately
  • Ability to provide accurate data and present in an appropriate format for the intended audience
  • Ability to work in a team, sharing information and coordinating activities
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond rapidly to unexpected events
  • Ability to think clearly in difficult situations, analyse issues and develop appropriate solutions
  • Good listening and questioning skills and a keen eye for detail

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • You will have 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) grades A – C (including Maths and English)
  • A GCSE or above in a scientific discipline, or previous experience in a scientific or technical role would be advantageous
