Job summary

Jobs4 is hiring Water Meter Readers to collect data from water meters at both commercial and residential properties. No experience required, full training provided. The role offers a basic hourly rate with a 40–45 hour week, possibilities for progression and a company car.

You will walk to meters, read data, and enter readings using a handheld device while delivering friendly customer service. Overtime and bonuses are available based on performance.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience is preferred but not required.
• Need to be physically fit and able to walk several miles daily.
• Full UK Driving Licence required (1 year minimum, up to 6 points).

We are hiring WATER METER READERS in your postcode now! Full-Time - Working close to home, no experience is required! Do you like working in an active outdoor role? Do you want to take control of your schedule and work flexibly? If the answer is yes, then this could be the role for you. As a Water Meter Reader you will be responsible for collecting data from water meters for both commercial and residential properties. You will update meter reads accurately throughout the day on your handheld device, also entering the details on a handheld device at each location and providing excellent customer service.

What we offer:

• £13.97 per hour basic pay.
• Weekly Hours 40 - 45 hours a week with flexible start and finish times between 8am - 8pm.
• £28,000to £30,000 average annual earnings including bonusses.
• Bonus scheme with earnings up to £1000 monthly.
• Hours of work mostly will be Monday - Friday (occasionally Saturday)
• Weekly payment.
• Overtime rates (£18 - £28) at manager's discretion.

What will you need:

• Full UK Driving Licence - Minimum 1 year, maximum 6 points, NO DR Offences - (driving license is not required in some areas in London)
• Physically fit - expect to walk on average 5 -6 miles per day, lifting manholes for water meters, climbing stairs and crouching, bending in tight spaces.
• Happy to work in all weather conditions.
• Clear DBS check (no unspent criminal convictions)
• Credit Report check (No county court judgements, IVA, debt relief orders recorded for the last 6 years)
• Previous Customer Service experience (preferred not essential)

Duties:

• Retrieving data from domestic, commercial, and industrial sites for Water Meters, full training will be given.
• 75% of the meters will be external.
• The meter reads are all commercial properties including hospitals, schools, shopping precincts and anything non household.
• May be bigger manholes so may be heavy lifting sometimes.
• Most of the meters will be external.
• Friendly personality with a professional approach to work.
• Adhering to Health and Safety guidelines at all times.
• Training: Training is 1 week and will be both classroom-based and field-based with an experienced meter reader, so you get to see the job through a professional\'s eyes.
