Job summary

GI Group Main Account is hiring Meter Readers across the UK to collect data from gas, electricity and water meters at domestic and commercial sites. No experience required.

You will work 40–45 hours weekly with flexible start times, receive full training and a company car, and enjoy a pension and bonus potential. You'll need a UK manual driving licence, be physically fit to lift and bend, and pass DBS and credit checks.

Qualifications

• Manual UK driving licence with 1 year minimum, max 6 points, no DR offences.
• Must be physically fit for lifting, bending and walking 4–5 miles daily.
• DBS check clear and no county court judgements in last 6 years; credit check.
• Minimum 5 years employment history.

We are hiring METER READERS in your postcode now; no experience is required.

As a Meter Reader you will be responsible for collecting data from gas, electricity & water meters for both commercial and residential properties. You will update meter reads accurately throughout the day on your handheld device, also entering the details on a handheld device at each location and providing excellent customer service.

What we offer:

• £13.23 - 13.97 per hour basic pay (weekly payment)
• Weekly Hours 40 - 45 hours a week with flexible start and finish times Monday - Friday (occasionally Saturday) between 8am - 8pm.
• £29,000 to £35,000 average annual earnings including bonusses.

What will you need:

• Manual UK Driving Licence - Minimum 1 year, maximum 6 points, NO DR Offences - (driving license is not required in some areas in London)
• Physically fit and have no issues with bending in tight spaces, lifting or kneeling, climbing stairs, crouching, and walking on average 4-5 miles a day.
• Happy to work in all weather conditions.
• Clear DBS check (no unspent criminal convictions)
• Credit Report check (No county court judgements, IVA, debt relief orders recorded for the last 6 years)
• 5 years employment history.
• Previous Customer Service experience (preferred not essential)

Duties:

• Retrieving data from domestic, commercial, and industrial sites for Water, Gas and Electric Meters, full training will be given.
• Carry out visual inspections of associated metering equipment.
• Charge Point Surveys.
• Drive and motivation to work in an independent role.
• Friendly personality with a professional approach to work.
• Adhering to Health and Safety guidelines at all times.

Training:

• Training is 1 week and will be both classroom-based and field-based with an experienced meter reader, so you get to see the job through a professional's eyes.
