Job summary

Arup is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Water team, contributing to robust and efficient solutions for water and wastewater projects. You will design and deliver pumping systems, pipelines and related infrastructure, working across feasibility to construction stages.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, applying BIM and 3D design tools to ensure high-quality outcomes. Cardiff or Birmingham locations with a strong emphasis on safety, quality and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering mechanical designs in the water utilities sector.
• Experience with treatment facilities and pumping systems.
• Progressing toward Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with IMechE or relevant body.
• Knowledge of current mechanical design standards in UK water industry.
• Understanding of digital design software such as BIM, Revit, Plant 3D.

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical design and delivery of water sector projects from feasibility through construction.
• Lead and guide junior engineers and technicians within multidisciplinary teams.
• Apply BIM/Plant 3D tools to improve project outcomes and promote technical rigour.
