Job summary

IES Utilities Group is recruiting an experienced Water Leakage Technician to support leakage detection and network performance across Colchester and surrounding areas. The role involves identifying and locating leaks, coordinating with site teams, and ensuring safety and accuracy in all investigations.

You will work on proactive and reactive leakage programmes, using acoustic, correlation, and other techniques.

Qualifications

• Experience in leakage detection, water network operations, or utility infrastructure.
• Full UK driving licence and comfortable driving a company van.
• Knowledge of health and safety on operational utility networks.

Responsibilities

• Carry out leakage detection across water networks.
• Undertake leakage surveys using detection methods: acoustic listening, correlation, step testing, acoustic logging, ground microphones, pipe tracing, pressure analysis.
• Identify and locate underground leaks on trunk mains and distribution networks.
• Investigate customer reports and network anomalies to identify leakage issues.
• Assess leakage severity and provide repair priority recommendations.
• Support network optimization initiatives to reduce water loss and improve performance.
• Plan and organise daily workloads to maximise productivity and meet targets.
• Record findings using client reporting systems and assist in site investigations.
