Job summary

Alexander Associates in Peterborough is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join our engineering team with hybrid working. You will deliver high-quality civil design solutions for turnkey and engineering services contracts in the UK water sector, coordinating designs and producing technical drawings.

You will work to health, safety and environmental standards while supporting project proposals and continuous improvement across disciplines.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant experience in Civil Engineering design.
• Understanding of water and wastewater treatment principles.
• Ability to develop practical, cost-effective engineering solutions and plant layouts.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess large volumes of technical information.
• Ability to present technical proposals clearly and confidently.
• Strong computer literacy and proficiency with engineering software packages.

Responsibilities

• Produce cost-effective design layouts that meet project specifications and can be constructed and commissioned efficiently.
• Prepare engineering designs, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Ensure standard engineering practices are applied where appropriate.
• Provide technical input and estimates to support project proposals.
• Follow and contribute to engineering procedures and processes.
• Monitor and review procedures to support continuous improvement.
• Coordinate designs with internal and external stakeholders across multiple disciplines.
• Ensure environmental considerations are incorporated into design solutions.
• Maintain compliance with all health and safety requirements.
• Support a customer-focused culture across projects and departments.
