Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a Water Hygiene Engineer to inspect and maintain hot and cold-water systems, perform Legionella testing, and advise on remedial actions. The role covers building water systems, TMV-related work, and ensuring compliance with HSG274 Part 2 and L8 ACOP.

A valid UK driving licence and flexibility for on-site visits are required. You will conduct temperature monitoring, sampling, and reporting, while delivering customer-focused service and maintaining safety RAMS/CPP

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Water Hygiene Engineer or similar role with Legionella control knowledge.
• Understanding of HSG274 Part 2, L8 ACOP, and UK water hygiene regulations.
• Ability to conduct water sampling, temperature monitoring, and basic water quality testing.
• Practical skills in cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of water systems.
• Strong communication skills for client interaction and report writing.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections, cleaning and disinfection of hot and cold-water systems per HSG274 Part 2 and L8 ACOP.
• Perform temperature checks to keep hot water above 50°C and cold water below 20°C.
• Carry out water sampling, testing and analysis for bacterial contamination and interpret results.
• Assist in Legionella risk assessments and implement control measures.
• Maintain records of inspections, tests and remedial works for audits.
• Carry out remedial actions (descaling, flushing, chlorination) and TMV installs/maintenance.
• Respond to emergency callouts and liaise with clients to explain findings and obligations.
• Lead safety practices and ensure RAMS/CPP compliance; complete safety documentation.
