Job summary

City of San Benito is seeking a Water Maintenance Worker to operate equipment and perform maintenance, repair and installation for the water distribution system.

You will run backhoes, excavators and related tools, install mains and hydrants, test installations, and ensure safety and public convenience. A high school diploma is preferred; Texas driver’s license required; licensing with TCEQ within one year may be needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Must have or be able to obtain Texas Driver’s license; CDL preferred.
• Must obtain TCEQ licensing within one year of employment and maintain water system infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Operate City equipment (backhoe, excavator, dump truck) and tools to perform maintenance tasks.
• Install and repair water mains, hydrants, valves, meters, and related components.
• Block off work areas and re-route traffic for safety.
• Accomplish hookups and flush tests per procedures.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and minor repairs.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and city policies.
• Communicate with co-workers and respond to public inquiries professionally.
