Job summary

A leading utility partner is seeking a Water Data & Systems Lead to govern and deliver data improvements across the water business. This role requires significant analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data management and Power BI dashboards. The ideal candidate should have an HNC or equivalent and experience with regulatory frameworks. We are looking for Water Data & Systems Lead who would like to help us reach our mission to earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract.

Purpose of this role

A champion of all elements of the water business data. Providing governance, consistency and hands‑on delivery of initiatives and improvements across all three units within the water business. Enjoys a close relationship with BUUK Business Intelligence and acts as a local super‑user on their behalf and turns good ideas into action.

Your key responsibilities are
  • Championing the maintenance and improvements to various local team databases to ensure data lines up to parent level ensuring single version of the truth within water.
  • Data cleanses and retiring legacy excel spreadsheets and replacing them with aligned SharePoint list databases.
  • Proposes and implements system improvements and supporting data to be, aligned with CJFG / corporate level initiatives.
  • A competent administrator and creator of Power BI dashboard and databases.
  • Manages key IWNL business changes through the Customer Journey Focus Group process.
  • Ownership of Water Data strategy.
  • Ownership of monthly Power BI reporting.
  • Ownership of data sources needed for regulatory returns (both Ofwat and DWI).
Qualifications
  • HNC or equivalent.
Experience / Knowledge

Sound knowledge of current industry processes, procedures and legislation and regulatory data needs relating to last mile water and wastewater networks.

Abilities / Skills

Highly analytical individual with problem‑solving skills.
Experience in liaising and working with internal stakeholder and partners.
Proven track record of delivering and scaling operational processes.
A passion for continuous improvement using software and automation ideas to enable scaling of existing processes in order to achieve long term business model (Hawk) efficient operator rates.

Desirable
  • Working towards professional qualification.
  • Data visualisation skills and understanding of data analytics tools.
  • Understanding of current regulatory frameworks of the water industry.
  • Experience of mapping and delivering customer focused journey plans.
  • Experience of using SharePoint / Power BI / Automation software.
  • Experience with liaising with contractors, incumbents and developers to develop external facing interfaces.
Conditions of Employment

You will be required to participate in a standby rota.
