A leading water company is seeking a Water Construction Technician to implement mains renewal construction activities. The role involves operating assets, managing construction tasks, and working closely with the Network Construction Manager. Applicants should have a full driving license, preferred qualifications in National Water Hygiene and NRSWA, and a positive teamwork attitude. Competitive benefits and potential earnings from incentives are offered.
At Severn Trent, we're embarking on an exciting £415m project to replace 870 miles of old water pipes across the Midlands. This is the biggest investment in water infrastructure in the region in a decade, aiming to improve water quality, reduce leaks, and provide a more reliable water supply for millions of people. The new pipes installed will last up to 100 years.
To bring this vision to life, we are creating new jobs across the region, with opportunities available in Birmingham, Nottingham, or anywhere in between. We are looking for a Water Construction Technician to work as part of a team to deliver mains renewal construction activities at specific sites within one of the four regions (North, South, East, and West).
The Water Construction Technician's key role will be to operate assets on the network on behalf of the construction team while carrying out large-scale mains renewal work at designated locations. You will support the Network Construction Manager in the planning and delivery of schemes within your area of responsibility and work alongside the Lead Operative to execute on-site activities.
This role involves significant construction activity, including excavation, installation, testing, and commissioning of new mains and assets. You will be responsible for delivering the work within set budgets, collaborating with the Network Control Manager.
The role requires a 42-hour work week, Monday to Friday, starting at 7:30 AM and ending at 4:30 PM, with an early finish at 4:00 PM on Fridays.
The ideal candidate will have a full driving license, with preferred qualifications including National Water Hygiene and NRSWA. Significant utility industry experience is desirable. Good communication skills, team orientation, risk awareness, and a positive attitude are essential.
Working at Severn Trent is more than just a job; it’s a career opportunity. We offer competitive benefits, including holiday entitlement, bonus schemes, pension contributions, share schemes, training, EV schemes, family policies, volunteering days, and potential earnings from mains renewal incentives.
We look forward to hearing from you. Please prepare an updated CV and set aside about five minutes to apply. For more information, follow us on social media. We’ll notify you of your application outcome after the closing date.
