Job description

As a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, you will maintain compliance with NPDES and local permit requirements to discharge wastewater.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Maintain records and data for the entire water and wastewater treatment plant.
2. Perform required calibrations of laboratory equipment and maintain calibration logs.
3. Enter data into computer files and file paper copies of bench sheets.
4. Summarize, complete, and file state and local monthly DMR reports.
5. Perform PADEP and Borough required laboratory testing, including obtaining wastewater samples following proper sampling protocols.
6. Liaise with wastewater testing labs for outsourced testing.
7. Use DO/Ph meter, sludge judge, microscope, and other equipment to obtain daily WWTP readings and make adjustments based on readings.
8. Ensure Starch Recovery system is operational and cleaned weekly.
9. Maintain inventory of chemicals, tools, and other materials used within the WWTP, ensuring availability and operational status.
10. Maintain cost control of materials within budget.
11. Maintain professional relationships with state and local agencies.
12. Observe and report conditions affecting daily operations and permit compliance, providing plans for corrective actions.
13. Supervise WWTP Employees:
1. Schedule work across three shifts.
2. Monitor and approve hours worked in payroll system.
3. Provide guidance on daily work tasks.
14. Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent; Associate or Bachelors Degree preferred.
2. Valid PA Wastewater License or ability to obtain within one year.
3. At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
4. At least 2 years of wastewater plant operations experience.
5. At least 1 year of general laboratory skills.
6. Strong computer skills.
