A little more about your role...

As the demand for our expertise continues to grow, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced (Senior to Associate Director) Waste Water Process Engineer to join our Water Engineering teams located in Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Liverpool, London, Newcastle, or Glasgow.


Working within various multidisciplinary project design teams, you will play a key role in delivering process engineering design content on a range of challenging projects in water engineering. These include wastewater and water reuse projects throughout the UK and overseas. You will contribute to the project design from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed designs for procurement and construction, including review of supplier proposals.


As an experienced Waste Water Process Engineer, you will help us deliver effective and professional services for a range of high-profile clients.


Key responsibilities include:
  • Produce Process Design deliverables such as optioneering studies, process calculations, mass balances, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation drawings, sketches, basis of design reports, etc., to achieve the optimum solution for the project.
  • Undertake outline or detailed process engineering design.
  • Attend site visits for data acquisition and meetings with site operators.
  • Provide technical input to the procurement process.
  • Support Project Managers in technical discussions with clients.
  • Engage with technology providers and vendors.
  • Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, SWIFT meetings.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and supervision to junior staff.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects to ensure integration of Process Engineering design requirements, delivering work to time, cost, and quality expectations.
  • Contribute to proposals, work scope, schedules, and budgets.
  • Liaise with clients to ensure their needs are met.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate...

Qualifications
  • A Chemical or Environmental Engineering degree or MSc (or equivalent).
  • Professional registration as CEng or working towards Chartership within 12 months.
Skills and Experience
  • Significant experience in delivering process engineering design for infrastructure projects, including leading process engineering tasks.
  • Experience in the municipal water industry.
  • Ability to work independently in preparing/reviewing process design packages, including specifications, calculations, reports, datasheets, schedules, P&IDs, and procurement documents.
  • Experience in studies, feasibility, concept, FEED, and detailed design for wastewater treatment solutions, including advanced biological treatments.
  • Understanding of circular economy, Zero Liquid Discharge, and emerging tertiary treatments.
  • Experience working in a consultancy or engineering firm as a Process Engineer.
  • Excellent time management skills to handle multiple projects.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality technical reports and deliver presentations.
  • Confident communicator, capable of engaging with colleagues, clients, and contractors.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work across multiple locations.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary meetings and representing the organization externally.
  • Ability to work accurately, flexibly, and manage work within tight schedules and budgets.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to operational sites and construction locations.
