About Your Role
As the demand for our expertise grows, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced (Senior to Associate Director) Waste Water Process Engineer to join our Water Engineering teams in Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Liverpool, London, Newcastle, or Glasgow. You will work within multidisciplinary project teams, delivering process engineering design on challenging water projects, including wastewater and water reuse projects across the UK and overseas. Your role involves contributing from feasibility to detailed design, procurement, and construction review.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce process design deliverables: optioneering studies, process calculations, mass balances, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation drawings, basis of design reports, etc.
  • Undertake outline or detailed process engineering design
  • Attend site visits for data collection and meetings with site operators
  • Provide technical input during procurement
  • Support project managers in client discussions
  • Liaise with technology providers and vendors
  • Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, SWIFT sessions
  • Guide and supervise junior staff technically
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure integrated design
  • Contribute to proposals, scope, schedules, and budgets
  • Engage with clients to meet their needs

Qualifications

  • A Chemical or Environmental Engineering degree or MSc (or equivalent)
  • Professional registration as CEng or working towards Chartership within 12 months

Skills and Experience

  • Significant experience in process engineering design for infrastructure projects, including leading roles
  • Experience in the municipal water industry
  • Ability to prepare and review technical specifications, calculations, reports, datasheets, P&IDs, etc.
  • Experience with wastewater treatment solutions and advanced biological treatments
  • Understanding of circular economy, Zero Liquid Discharge, and emerging treatments
  • Consultancy or relevant industry experience as a Process Engineer
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills
  • Strong technical report writing and verbal presentation skills
  • Effective communicator, capable of engaging with colleagues, clients, and contractors
  • Self-motivated with proactive working style
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary meetings and representing the organization externally
  • Ability to work accurately, flexibly, and within project constraints
  • Willingness to travel for site visits and assessments
