Job description

We are looking for a Wastewater MEICA Contract Manager to join Thames Water on a full time permanent basis.

The purpose of the Maintenance Services function is to provide professional, cross functional maintenance delivery capabilities to the Wastewater and Bioresources directorate.

What will you be doing as a Wastewater MEICA Contract Manager?

  • The primary purpose of the role is to identify, realise, coordinate and control the third-party MEICA maintenance activity on our wastewater treatment sites.
  • Work closely with operations teams, risk processes and Capital Maintenance Teams to prioritise the planned and reactive works across our sites.
  • Work with framework managers and operations to monitor and optimise performance.
  • Setting up of new contracts where required to enhance our capital maintenance programme to drive improvements to asset availability, performance and overall site health.
  • Develop and track performance data and create insight to inform decision-making.
  • Support the maintenance delivery strategy by sharing performance outputs and trends to influence policy and future standards.
  • Own and drive the supply chain standards updates into the MEICA delivery process.
  • Collaborate across the AOCD organisation on critical asset groups from inlet to outlet, including enhancements to our flow control and monitoring estate, inlet improvement programme, ASP optimisation, tertiary treatment refurbishment, sludge processing and CHP.
  • You will provide strategic oversight of specialist programmes of work designed to increase resilience and improve critical performance outcomes (e.g. Pollution, Blockage, Flooding).
  • Continuously reviewing our approach to maintenance delivery, identifying opportunities to optimise strategic make vs buy decisions and implementing change to enable the ongoing professionalisation of maintenance delivery across Wastewater and Bioresources.
  • You will drive the improvement from a primarily reactive to a proactive approach to maintenance, backed by strong data insights and efficient resource allocation.
  • The role demands a balance between daily operational responsibilities and more strategic planning, contractor liaison, alignment, and improvement initiatives.

  • Understanding of Wastewater Treatment, operational activity and contractor management.
  • Desire to build strategic thinking between the operational activity and strategic asset management.
  • Present strong leadership with demonstrable ability to engage, motivate and influence distributed teams across organisational boundaries.
  • Demonstrable ability to proactively engage & influence stakeholders and develop sustainable, long-lasting relationships both with our business and with our critical delivery partners.
  • Passion for improvement and innovation with a strong track record in performance turnaround.
  • Strong background in programme delivery.
  • Deep understanding of change management and proven ability to transition teams from reactive to proactive modes of operation.
  • Strong insights-driven decision-making skills with a robust understanding of data analytics and its role in operational efficiency.
  • Experience in collaboration with digital teams in extracting and understanding data-driven insights.
  • Ability to interpret complex data and turn it into actionable insights.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Clear communication and data-driven decision making.
