Job summary

Network Plus is seeking a design engineer based in Worsley to support Northumbrian Water and UK utility contracts. You will produce high-quality wastewater designs, collaborating with internal teams and external consultants to deliver safe, compliant infrastructure solutions.

The role covers design phases from setup through to construction administration, with emphasis on technical design, site investigations, and CDM compliance. A proactive, team-oriented mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualifications desirable; good experience would be considered.
• Experience in the water industry on wastewater projects.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office tools (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Outlook).
• Knowledge of CDM 2015 is advantageous.

Job description

Description Join our Design team based in Worsley, supporting Northumbrian Water and other UK utility contracts. You'll produce high-quality wastewater designs, working collaboratively to deliver safe, compliant and cost-effective infrastructure solutions that support essential services. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your technical expertise while contributing to a diverse portfolio of projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor leading industry practices, recommend new design approaches, and identify upcoming trends.


• Develop high-quality concepts, working with team on iterations and design, actively seek feedback from Creative and Business stakeholders


• Working on all design phases of projects, including project set-up, programming, design, and construction administration


• Collaborate with both internal design team, client design team and external consultants to execute creative projects


• Providing technical design support to other members of the design team.


• Responding to and resolving issues with external parties such as the client, third party organisations & sub-contractors


• Represent the company and arrange pre-design and walk off meetings with the client.


• Undertake site investigation reports and complete CDM documentation.


• Ensure compliance with CDM 2015 throughout the design process.


• Produce and make ongoing updates to the H&S file throughout various stages of the project ensuring that it is up to date and available at the end of the project.


• Competently produce detailed design & as-laid drawings using AutoCAD in accordance with the client's asset design standards and procedures.


• Competently produce plan & longitudinal drawings to meet the clients design specifications


• Create private land notice plans in accordance with the clients' processes and specification.


• Liaising with the client ensuring the site investigation, design and construction phases runs according to plan and providing regular detailed updates to the Project Manager and the client.


• Work alongside the Project Manager/ Operations Manager/ Design Manager to ensure all schemes are designed within budget and within the time constraints set by the client.

Experience and Qualifications

• Engineering qualifications desirable however good experience would be considered.


• Experience of working in the water industry on wastewater projects


• Proven experience in wastewater, CSOs, stormwater management, and wastewater networks.


• Understanding and knowledge of relevant Engineering specifications that apply to the water industry


• Knowledge and Awareness of CDM 2015


• Proficient user of AutoCAD


• Competent in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


• Ability to work as part of a team and to organise your workload across multiple projects


• Willingness to mentor and support less experienced colleagues
