Job summary

Network Plus in Exeter is seeking a Waste Water Designer to join the Design team supporting UK utility contracts. You will produce high-quality wastewater designs across all project phases, collaborate with the internal team, clients and external consultants, and help ensure safe, compliant and cost-effective infrastructure.

Based in Exeter, this full-time role offers £45,000–£55,000 per year. Candidates should have experience in wastewater projects, be proficient with AutoCAD, and understand

Qualifications

  • Experience in the water industry on wastewater projects.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of CDM 2015.
  • Experience with CSOs, stormwater management.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and manage workload across multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor leading industry practices, recommend new design approaches and identify trends.
  • Develop high-quality concepts and iterate designs with stakeholders.
  • Work across all design phases from project set-up to construction administration.
  • Collaborate with internal and external design teams and clients.
  • Provide technical design support to the design team.
  • Respond to and resolve issues with clients and external parties.
  • Represent the company in pre-design and walk-off meetings with clients.
  • Undertake site investigations and complete CDM documentation.
  • Ensure CDM 2015 compliance throughout the design process.
  • Produce and update H&S files and generate detailed AutoCAD drawings.
  • Create plan and longitudinal drawings to meet design specs.
  • Prepare private land notice plans and liaise with clients on schedules.

Description

Join our Design team based in Worsley, supporting Northumbrian Water and other UK utility contracts. You’ll produce high-quality wastewater designs, working collaboratively to deliver safe, compliant and cost-effective infrastructure solutions that support essential services. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your technical expertise while contributing to a diverse portfolio of projects.


Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor leading industry practices, recommend new design approaches, and identify upcoming trends.
  • Develop high-quality concepts, working with team on iterations and design, actively seek feedback from Creative and Business stakeholders
  • Working on all design phases of projects, including project set-up, programming, design, and construction administration
  • Collaborate with both internal design team, client design team and external consultants to execute creative projects
  • Providing technical design support to other members of the design team.
  • Responding to and resolving issues with external parties such as the client, third party organisations & sub-contractors
  • Represent the company and arrange pre-design and walk off meetings with the client.
  • Undertake site investigation reports and complete CDM documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM 2015 throughout the design process.
  • Produce and make ongoing updates to the H&S file throughout various stages of the project ensuring that it is up to date and available at the end of the project. Competently produce detailed design & as-laid drawings using AutoCAD in accordance with the client's asset design standards and procedures.
  • Competently produce plan & longitudinal drawings to meet the clients design specifications
  • Create private land notice plans in accordance with the clients’ processes and specification.
  • Liaising with the client ensuring the site investigation, design and construction phases runs according to plan and providing regular detailed updates to the Project Manager and the client.
  • Work alongside the Project Manager/ Operations Manager/ Design Manager to ensure all schemes are designed within budget and within the time constraints set by the client.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Engineering qualifications desirable however good experience would be considered.
  • Experience of working in the water industry on wastewater projects
  • Proven experience in wastewater, CSOs, stormwater management, and wastewater networks.
  • Understanding and knowledge of relevant Engineering specifications that apply to the water industry
  • Knowledge and Awareness of CDM 2015
  • Proficient user of AutoCAD
  • Competent in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to organise your workload across multiple projects
  • Willingness to mentor and support less experienced colleagues
