About The Role
Field Service Supervisor - Oxfordshire
Field Service Supervisors are the first line managers for the Field Service Engineers supported by the National Operations Manager. They work closely with the Operations Centre Manager and the Operations Director to ensure an efficient service. They are leaders for every function in their region and must strive to exceed expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Mentor service engineers and triage technical enquiries from Sales and Engineering teams.
- Act as the escalated point of contact for customer inquiries, including site and customer engagement.
- Ensure service engineers are presentable and uphold PHS Wastekit values.
- Maintain health and safety standards within the team.
- Ensure all company procedures are followed.
- Pass on new business leads to the sales department.
- Support, train, and guide Field Service Engineers according to company procedures.
- Follow and complete all reasonable requests from the Operational Leadership promptly and to a high standard.
Technical Skills
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Understanding of hydraulic and electrical circuit diagrams.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic principles.
- Proficiency with electrical and hydraulic test equipment.
- Adherence to company procedures and standards.
- Share technical knowledge to assist colleagues.
- Apply good engineering practices and standards.
- Update the Technical Academy as needed.
- Use cost-effective and safe methods for tasks.
- Assist, supervise, and train Wastekit colleagues.
- Attend meetings and training courses as required.
- Host training sessions as per business needs.
- Comply with all requirements in the Field Service Engineers Workbook.
- Maintain and safely use company equipment and vehicles.
- Manage stock responsibly and keep accurate records.
- Wear correct uniform, keep it clean, and use PPE when required.
- Return documentation to the office promptly.
- Keep company vehicles clean and maintained, and care for PPE, tools, and stock.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Responsibilities
- Comply with company health and safety policies and customer site requirements.
- Follow risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
- Use appropriate tools and safety equipment.
- Report equipment or clothing defects immediately.
- Avoid shortcuts and unsafe practices.
- Keep work areas and vehicles tidy.
- Report accidents, near misses, and incidents promptly.
- Record accidents on customer sites per their procedures.
- Suggest hazard elimination or reduction measures.
- Assist in incident investigations to prevent recurrence.
- Prioritize safety for yourself, colleagues, and customers.
- Set a good personal example.
- Follow all health, safety, environmental, and customer procedures.
- Dispose of waste properly.
- Drive responsibly, adhering to the Highway Code and taking breaks as needed.
Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications
- Knowledge of UK waste and recycling legislation.
- Effective leadership in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to build constructive working relationships.
- Service engineering background, preferably electrical and/or hydraulic.
- 18th edition electrical regulations or equivalent (City & Guilds) in electrical and mechanical engineering.
