Our Purpose
Our mission is to provide a first-class front-line waste and recycling collection service for the residents across North East Lincolnshire.
The Role
You will work as part of a team under the guidance of the Waste Services Manager to develop and deliver efficient waste and recycling collection rounds that deliver agreed outcomes. You will lead and develop both short- and long-term plans for delivering specific operational activities within waste and recycling and ensure effective customer service and continuous improvement.
The role involves shared supervision of approximately 85 employees who work in small teams across the borough collecting waste and recycling, whilst continually reviewing your own and the team's work, developing improvements to processes and systems ensuring efficiency and value for money.
You will be proactive in coordinating the team's daily work allocation, rostering, recruitment, induction, training, and management of holidays and absence under challenging circumstances and often conflicting priorities to ensure waste and recycling services are maintained. The post holder will work to deadlines which can be statutory or organisationally determined and within policies, procedures, and local performance agreements.
Effective communication to all stakeholders is essential.

About You
You must be able to work under pressure and manage sudden unforeseen events within the service, with the ability to prioritise the allocation of work at short notice. Punctuality is essential, and you must be available for an early morning start. Experience of team leading in an operational environment is advantageous; however, we welcome applications from those with the relevant transferable skills. Effective communication to all stakeholders is essential.
