Job summary

City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking a Wastes Logistics and Quality Supervisor to lead the Waste and Recycling team. The role oversees logistics services, ensures performance and customer service standards, and supports communications and cost-control initiatives. A full UK driving licence is required.

Wastes Logistics and Quality Supervisor

Salary-£36,363 - £40,777 (Grade 6)

Hours- 37 hours per week

Contract type- Full time, permanent

Location: Based at Hickman Avenue Depot, can also work at any suitable location within the City of Wolverhampton, including Anchor Lane and Shaw Road Household Waste & Recycling Centres and Crown Street Waste Transfer Station.

This role requires a full valid UK driving licence.

Based within the Quality and Logistics team in Waste and Recycling Service department, you will have:

  • Proven experience of supervising a team.
  • Ensure that Quality and Logistics team, support all areas of the Waste and Recycling Service
  • To oversee the provision of a full range of logistical support services that are essential to the day-to-day effective front-line control and operation of the service, with a particular emphasis on performance reporting and customer service excellence to ensure contractual obligations and service standards are achieved.
  • To work in collaboration with the central communications service to develop communications messages for the service which include media enquiries and engaging waste related content for the council’s multiple communication platforms.
  • To provide financial analysis and support within the Waste Service to achieve savings through increased operational efficiency and competitive procurement where possible, whilst maintaining awareness of the business context of operational waste budgetary requirements and income opportunity.

The successful candidate will have.

  • Good standard of education that includes GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • Driving licence is essential to the role.
  • Previous experience in supervising staff, in an administration support office setting.
  • Previous experience of presentations and talks to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Previous experience of delivering employee briefings/training sessions
  • Previous experience with performance management.

The annual pay increases for 2026/27 for NJC Local Government Employees are currently being negotiated and, once agreed, will be effective from 1 April 2026.
