Successful candidates will be based out of our Rutherford House (Whitehaven) office, delivering high hazard decommissioning as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Responsibilities will focus on those detailed below, with an expectation to support other team members outside this discipline as needed. There may also be opportunities for national and international travel for suitable candidates.

Requirements:

  • Practical Radiological Waste Management experience in the nuclear industry.
  • Understanding of waste routing and acceptance criteria / conditions for acceptance for routes such as VLLW, Combustible, Metallic Waste Treatment, LLW, ILW, and PCM.
  • Knowledge of waste packages and transport options available in the industry.
  • Familiarity with UK strategies and legislation for waste management.
  • Application of the waste hierarchy and BAT principles.
  • Understanding of Radiological Protection requirements.
  • Ability to work in the field and interact effectively with delivery teams.
  • Good written English skills and ability to produce clear technical reports.
  • Innovative, open-minded, and adaptable to ideas.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites and flexible approach.
  • Motivated, proactive, and effective communicator.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships internally and externally.

Responsibilities:

  • Support senior staff in Radiological Waste Management tasks such as producing waste management documentation, continuous improvement of waste strategies, assessing analytical results, deriving radionuclide fingerprints, waste sentencing, and BAT assessments.
  • Contribute to developing monitoring procedures for characterization and waste sentencing.
  • Assist in developing bids and proposals by identifying strategies.
  • Support team members, sharing knowledge and experience.
  • Use expertise to influence and improve project delivery.
  • Help deliver projects successfully, meeting targets within budget and schedule.
  • Maintain customer focus, liaising with clients and communicating effectively.
  • Collaborate with projects and clients to solve complex problems.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure project delivery.
  • Understand and communicate company processes and standards.
