Job summary

The Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula is seeking two dependable Waste Management Operators to join our Public Works team. You will operate municipal waste collection vehicles, complete residential, commercial and municipal routes, and perform daily inspections.

The successful candidate will hold an Ontario Class DZ licence with a satisfactory driver’s abstract, plus experience with heavy equipment or waste collection. Strong safety awareness and good customer service are essential.

Qualifications

• Valid Ontario Class DZ driver’s licence in good standing.
• Satisfactory driver’s abstract.
• Experience operating commercial vehicles, heavy equipment or waste collection vehicles.
• Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent education.
• Strong safety awareness and sound judgement.
• Effective communication and customer‑service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical ability to perform the duties.

Responsibilities

• Operate municipal waste collection vehicles and related equipment.
• Complete residential, commercial and municipal collection routes.
• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Transport materials to disposal or processing facilities.
• Identify and document non‑compliant waste materials.
• Maintain accurate route, vehicle and collection records.
• Provide courteous, professional service to residents and customers.
• Support other Public Works and municipal operations as required.
