Job summary

Plymouth City Council is looking for a motivated Waste & Cleaning Driver to join the frontline Cleansing Team. This role involves driving a 3.5t vehicle across Plymouth to perform street cleansing, waste collection and environmental maintenance across the city.

Qualifications

• Must hold a full UK driving licence.
• Experience in labouring and manual work is desirable.
• Health and safety awareness in an operational environment.

Responsibilities

• Street cleansing and environmental maintenance activities.
• Collecting and removing waste from public and private land.
• Weed and graffiti removal.
• Emptying litter bins and maintaining public spaces.
• Removing fly-tipped waste and cleaning up spillages.
• Ensuring all areas are left clean, safe and tidy.
• Reporting operational issues and health and safety concerns.
• Providing excellent customer service and engaging positively with the public.
• Using equipment and machinery safely and effectively per training and safety procedures.
• Supporting teams with container delivery and other operational duties.

Plymouth City Council is looking for motivated and reliable Waste & Cleansing 3.5t Driver to join our frontline Cleansing Team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in maintaining a clean safe and well-maintained environment for residents, business and visitors across the city.

As a Waste & Cleansing Driver 3.5t you will be responsible for driving to multiple locations across Plymouth to undertake a variety of operational duties including.

• Street cleansing and environmental maintenance activities.
• Collecting and removing waste from Public and Private land
• Weed removal and graffiti removal.
• Emptying litter bins and maintaining public spaces.
• Removing fly-tipped waste and cleaning up spillages.
• Ensuring all areas are left clean, safe and tidy.
• Reporting operational issues and health and safety concerns.
• Providing excellent customer service and engaging positively with members of the public.
• Using equipment and machinery safely and effectively in accordance with training, procedures and health and safety requirements
• Supporting teams with container delivery and other operational duties.

You will be committed to delivering excellent public services and taking pride in your work. We are looking for individuals who have experience of labouring and physically demanding manual work, understand the importance of health and Safety in an operational environment, are dependable, safety conscious and able to work as part of a team that takes pride in helping to keep Plymouth clean safe and welcoming for everyone.
