Job summary

CK Group is seeking a Waste Chemist for a full-time permanent role in a Hazardous Waste Management company near Birmingham. The Waste Chemist will be responsible for the safe and efficient handling of laboratory waste, along with ensuring compliance with regulations. Ideal candidates will have a Chemistry qualification and experience in hazardous waste management.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry or related discipline required.
• Experience in Hazardous Waste sector preferred.
• Ability to maintain stock levels consistently.

Responsibilities

• Accept and sort incoming waste streams according to regulations.
• Verify and maintain records of laboratory waste.
• Conduct sampling for analysis before acceptance.

Job description

CK Group are recruiting for a Waste Chemist, to join a Hazardous Waste Management company, at their site based in the West Midlands, on a full time, permanent basis, for a salary of £26,000 per annum.

This role is 40 hours per week, Monday- Friday.

About the role:

Accepting, sorting, segregating and despatching Laboratory Small waste and associated materials. Working along with the incoming and outgoing chemist teams to ensure that the acceptance and despatch of wastes is Safe, compliant and efficient.


Location:

The site is based near Birmingham and is commutable by Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Lichfield and Stafford.

As a Waste Chemist the main purpose of your role will be:

• Accept incoming waste streams in accordance with the company management system.
• Verify that laboratory smalls are correctly listed in overpacks, maintaining records.
• Conduct a physical count of all stored pallets of waste to maintain stock levels below 75% capacity in line with KPI targets.
• Sample accepted waste for analysis to confirm suitability for acceptance.
• Accurately list waste stock and batch on SAP; collaborate with operatives to prepare waste for dispatch.

As a Waste Chemist, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

• HNC or Degree-level qualification in Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Sound knowledge of Hazardous Waste Regulations.
• Experience within the Hazardous Waste sector.
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, contributing to overall success.
