Driver Team Leader- Hygiene Operations

The Driver Team Leader plays a pivotal role within the hygiene operation, responsible for guiding a team of colleagues to achieve their regional goals and service levels. They act as a bridge between frontline colleagues and depot management, ensuring effective communication and implementation of company strategies and objectives.

The job involves:

  • Leading a small team of driver colleagues, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure high performance and productivity.
  • Implementing ongoing training initiatives to keep team members updated on products, customer requirements, best practices, and company policies.
  • Overseeing day-to-day operations, resolving issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
  • Supporting the recruitment process for new drivers, including sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, observation days, and onboarding.
  • Responding to urgent customer requests as directed by scheduling or management, which may involve working extra hours.
  • Conducting comprehensive induction training for new team members.
  • Providing performance feedback to individuals and management.
  • Ensuring excellent service delivery and driving skills.
  • Working effectively with Managers, Drivers, HR, L&D, and Health and Safety Teams.
  • Adhering to and demonstrating Health and Safety regulations and COSHH, including wearing protective clothing.
  • Demonstrating resilience and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Having a full UK manual driving license for at least 12 months (subject to insurance requirements) with no more than 6 points.
  • Meeting the requirements for an enhanced DBS check.
  • Having vaccinations against Hepatitis B, tetanus, and polio, due to the nature of waste handling and customer service.
