An exciting opportunity for a Design Engineer within MBDA's Warheads team. You will manage the design of various warheads, ensuring compliance through rigorous evaluation, while collaborating internationally and enhancing your skills in a complex engineering environment. We have an exciting role for a Design Engineer to join our Warheads team to manage and deliver all aspects of warhead design. The role will give you the opportunity to work with many different teams around MBDA within the UK and internationally.
Salary: Circa £55,000 depending on experience
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 3 days per week on-site due to workload classification
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship
Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:
An exciting opportunity has opened up in the Complex Warhead Centre of Excellence (CW CofEx) for a Design Engineer working on the mechanical design of Warheads. This role encompasses all facets of the product life cycle, from conceptualization and detailed designs to qualification, production, and In-Service Support across a diverse portfolio of Warhead types and applications.
You will be an integral part of a dedicated, multidisciplinary team, tackling challenging engineering issues across the product life cycle. Specialised training will be provided, focusing on specific aspects of Warhead design, which can lead to professional accreditations and Chartered-ship. This role also offers the chance to broaden your expertise in modelling and simulation tools, analysis methods, novel materials, innovative manufacturing processes, and other emerging domains.
Operating within a specialized domain, this role presents an excellent opportunity to cultivate new skills and leverage existing expertise for the benefit of the CofEx. Additionally, there are opportunities for secondments into other business areas, as well as with our valued suppliers and partners, with whom we share a close relationship.
What we're looking for from you:
· A Degree/HND/HNC coupled with post-qualification experience and training in mechanical design.
· Proficiency in managing mechanical design work packages, assuming responsibility for Design, Development, and Proving activities throughout the product life cycle.
· Familiarity with proving and qualification/homologation activities to ensure compliance with requirements.
· Communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling effective influence and negotiation with partners across the business and with suppliers and customers.
· Relevant 3D CAD/CAE experience (training on our CAE tools will be provided).
· An understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity, coupled with adaptability as required.
