Job description

The main responsibilities of this role include organising the warehouse team's daily tasks and serving as a point of escalation for any queries about their day-to-day activities. To support and help the Company Directors with day-to-day operational responsibilities to ensure the business runs smoothly and efficiently. This is a hands on role and experience of working in a warehouse environment is essential.

Operational Duties

  • Communicate with the Company Directors to discuss and organise tasks for the warehouse.
  • Allocate work to warehouse team.
  • Use the warehouse system to pick and pack orders of stair parts.
  • Help plan for large consignments delivered to the 2 warehouse sites.
  • Oversea and organise regular stocktakes of goods.
  • Oversea and report KPIs
  • Supervise the unloading, scanning into stock and the putting away of large containers of stock in both warehouse locations in a timely fashion.
  • Oversea the weekly deliveries from our suppliers and manage the process.
  • Re-order warehouse consumables and any related items such as packing materials.
  • Ensure that low stock levels are reordered and/or reported to the appropriate colleague.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of company products and services, and offer technical support and information to team members, customers and stakeholders when required.
  • Assist with customers and customer queries in the showroom when required.
  • Liaise with Maintenance Supervisor and Office Supervisor to provide an efficient and effective workplace.
  • Identify opportunities and suggest improvements to services, processes and/or systems.
  • Any other duties deemed reasonable to maintain the smooth running of the warehouse as and when required.

Supervising Staff

  • Supervises team members in duties and performance.
  • Schedule and prioritise both your own and others work effectively against challenging targets and deadlines to meet operating requirements.
  • Conduct return to work meetings with employees who have been absent.
  • Train new staff and delegate the training as appropriate.
  • Be the first point of contact for any issues and look for a workable solution.
  • Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching when appropriate.
  • Escalate any performance concerns to the relevant manager.

Health & Safety

  • Ensure all staff adhere to safe working practices and report any Health and Safety issues to the relevant colleague.

Person Specification

Types of experience and specific knowledge required for this role:

  • The ability to work as part of a team as well as using own initiative and working independently.
  • Previous experience of supervising employees.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Be able to think on their feet in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Good accuracy and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work to targets and deadlines and be able to multitask.
  • Previous experience of using an electronic picking and packing system would be an advantage.
  • IT skills (specific as required).
  • The ability to be flexible and have a can do attitude.
  • Forklift truck driving licence is desirable.

Hours

8.00am 5.00pm Monday to Thursday

8.00am 4.00pm Friday.

(41.5hrs per week + 1 Saturday per month)
