Job summary

DFDS in the United Kingdom is seeking a Warehouse Team Leader to drive frontline operations, motivate a team and maintain high standards across goods receipt, storage, picking and dispatch.

You will lead by example, coach staff, manage workloads, monitor productivity and safety, and deliver daily briefings. Experience in warehouse or logistics and familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems is essential; join a diverse, fast-paced environment.

About the role

Reporting to the Warehouse Operations Manager, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the warehouse operation. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll work alongside warehouse colleagues to ensure goods are received, stored, picked, and dispatched safely, accurately, and efficiently.

You will be responsible for:

• Leading, motivating, and supporting warehouse colleagues to achieve operational, quality, and productivity targets
• Working alongside the team on picking, packing, loading, unloading, goods-in, goods-out, and inventory activities as required
• Allocating workloads and ensuring resources are used effectively throughout the shift
• Monitoring productivity, quality, and accuracy, taking corrective action where necessary
• Delivering daily team briefings and communicating priorities, performance expectations, and safety updates
• Coaching, training, and developing team members while supporting performance management activities
• Supporting stock accuracy, continuous improvement initiatives, operational reporting, and warehouse planning activities

About you

You’ll have previous experience within a warehouse, logistics, distribution, or supply chain environment, along with experience in a Team Leader, Supervisor, or similar people management role. You’ll have a proven track record of achieving productivity, quality, and service targets while maintaining a strong focus on health and safety.

Experience managing warehouse activities such as goods receipt, picking, packing, dispatch, and inventory control is essential. You’ll also be confident conducting team briefings, coaching colleagues, and supporting performance reviews and development plans.

You’ll thrive in this role if you’re motivated, hands on, and passionate about leading people in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, alongside a proactive approach to problem solving and decision making. You’ll be organised, detail oriented, and capable of working under pressure to meet operational deadlines. Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and basic IT systems would be advantageous.
